Chronology of cameras Kershaw

A. Kershaw & Sons Ltd was a camera maker from Leeds that produced cameras for direct selling as well as for other makers. It merged with several other companies in the APM in 1921.

The Kershaw Patent Reflex (later called the Soho Reflex) was made by Kershaw and rebranded by several British makers, such as Marion & Co., Ross and others. The shutter was protected by the British patent 22698 from 1904.

This camera if designed for 3 ¼ x 4 ¼ “ plates. Focusing is achieved by rack and pinion. The shutter delivers speeds in the range 1/32  to 1/800 plus T. The lens is a Ross Xpress of 5.5 “ of focal length and maximum aperture of 4.5. The lensboard has geared vertical movement.

Overall a well made but bulky and heavy camera.
